We Believe

Scripture Alone
The Holy Bible is the complete and inspired Word of God. It stands as the sole authority for all doctrine and teaching shared within our congregation.

Grace and Faith Alone
Salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith alone. As Ephesians 2:8-9 declares: "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."

The Triune God
We believe in one Triune God: the Father, our Creator; the Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior; and the Holy Spirit, who leads us into faith and sustains us daily.

The Ten Commandments
The Law reveals our shortcomings and our sins, illuminating our deep and personal need for a Savior.

Sacraments
Sacred acts of worship instituted by God, Holy Baptism and Holy Communion are the means through which He delivers His grace to us.

Our Worship Style

Evangelical — God tells us to preach the Gospel, the Good News that Jesus Christ died for the sins of all and that salvation is free to all who believe.

Liturgical — A common Lutheran liturgy based upon scripture is used every Sunday to confess our sins and express our Christian beliefs through the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds.

We listen to passages from the Bible every Sunday.

We sing hymns of praise.

We pray to the Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

What is Lutheran?

Lutheran is a Christian denomination, one of the Protestant divisions. The Lutheran teachings were instituted by a 16th-century theologian Martin Luther.

Lutheranism’s tenets—differ from Roman Catholicism by:

1. rejecting the hierarchical priesthood as the ultimate authority on spiritual matters in favor of Scripture above everything in matters of faith (sola scriptura)

2. the recognition of only two of the seven traditionally recognized sacraments, namely baptism and the Eucharist;

3. and the understanding that people are saved solely by God’s grace (sola gratia) not by what they do, by way of their faith in Christ (sola fide). Lutheranism now has over 65 million adherents.

Scripture encourages us to learn and hear

The Third Commandment states: "Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy."

Going to church is the will of God who created us and redeemed us from sin.

John 8:47 says, "They that are of God, hear God's Words."

We should fear and love God that we may not despise preaching of His Word, but gladly hear and learn it.

Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."

You are personally invited to come and learn with us the teachings of God's Word and worship with us at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday.
